THE SLIMP
WHAT DO THEY SOUND LIKE ?
Requiem of a goth chick`s funeral. The SlimP use dirge-like beats with emphasis on bass that reek of goth in its heyday and singer Elisa sounds like siouxsie sioux`s younger sister.
WHO`S IN THE BAND?
Elisa Day (vocals/bass), Mart Clewing (bass/vocals), Bernd Censarek (guitar), Silke Burkhardt (drums).
WHERE THEY FROM? Cologne, Germany.
THE STORY SO FAR?
Germany is the second home of goth so it`s no surprise that some of the finest dark bands come from there. This four-piece formed back in 2002 with an agenda- they wanted to create a sound that captured the spirit of the bands they grew up with... but with a twist. After playing stack of dates in their home country, The Slimp released their first album in 2004. The self-financed CD was called `Masquerade` and was a big hit with the German goth scene. Not ones to rest on their laurels, the band quickly released a follow-up packed with six new songs and two re-workings.There are plans to release a third album later this year.Slimp apparently stands for "shimmery liquid in marvellous plastic bottles", which roughly translates as bottled creativity without sounding quite so hippy.
CURRENT RELEASE:`Some Seconds Later` (Madhouse, 2005).
